Yuri's Seven Leagues
The Three Virtues
A character’s virtues represent how he overcomes challenges and solves problems. They do not affect the specifics of his abilities in any way, merely how he uses them.
Power: Power represents the character’s ability to exert his will and control a situation with force. A person with a high power has an easier time confronting a challenge in a direct manner. Examples may include a warrior defeating an enemy with brute force, a wizard devastating his foes with a mighty fireball, or a queen silencing an unruly council with the power of her voice.
Wisdom: Wisdom represents the character’s ability to work subtly and manipulate a situation to his advantage. A person with a high wisdom has an easier time confronting challenges in an indirect manner. Examples may include a martial artist who takes down a larger enemy by striking pressure points, a stealthy trickster who sets traps to kill his foes, or a cunning royal advisor who controls politics from behind the scenes.
Courage: Courage represents the character’s ability to withstand hardship and stay strong even in the face of defeat. A person with a high courage is more difficult to defeat and lasts longer when facing any challenge. Examples may include a heroic knight who bravely confronts a dragon, a bold daredevil who laughs in the face of death, or a stubborn idealist who stands up for what he believes in when no one else will.
